Design Intent

Rooftop conservatory farm to table restaurant concept.

This all started with a prompt…

The Concept

serenity. sophistication. peace.

“Awe from Above”

Fine dining restaurant with a focus on farm to table. Patrons will leave with a greater understanding of healthy food choices and sustainability.

Large terrace garden connected to restaurant that supplies fresh ingredients that become the focus of dishes.

Restaurant is in a conservatory, to play into the plant theme. Floor to ceiling windows let patrons see the view of the skyline.

The Vision

Rooftop dining is not a new concept. Particularly in cities, the rising skylines make for great scenery to enjoy a meal.

Here’s what was missing…

Access to gardens and green spaces in cities.

Combine fresh ingredients with an exciting venue fosters excitement around healthy eating.

Sustainability

Farm to table concepts create a direct link between producers (farmers) and consumers (you!) It encourages sustainability and eating clean. This is particularly helpful in cities, where fresh vegetables aren’t readily available.

Sustainability is a focus of this project. It is important that the venue of the restaurant be an old building, restored to give new life.

An abandoned building, such as a conservatory, makes a great place for a restaurant focused on helping the environment.

Why build an entirely new structure when there are so many beautiful old buildings waiting to be restored?

From host stand… to table… to garden

Aerial/ Elevation Views

Central bar serves as a focal point for the dining room.

Aerial and elevation views helped me establish the “flow” of the restaurant. This was a crucial step. It was important that the patrons made their way through the restaurant to the garden.
